Vivo V5 Plus review – Features, Specifications, price and more

The design of vivo v5 Plus is sleek and beautiful.

Vivo has always taken care of the mainstream segment and the company has launched several phones in less than Rs. 20,000 in the last few days. BBO Electronics-owned Vivo has used brands like Oppo and OnePlus for premium and power-user. Vivo V5 Plus, with a price of Rs 27,980, wants to set up a new dimension in this segment.

Along with this price, VuVo V5 Plus is definitely challenging the OnePlus One 3T. Both of these smartphones come in different categories. At the same time, it is difficult for the user to choose which device is much better according to the value. Vivo V5 Plus is an ‘ultimate’ selfie smartphone, but is there anything else in it that can replace a flagship-level phone? Learn about the V5 Plus review.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

The design of Vivo v5 Plus is sleek and beautiful.

The Vivo V5 Plus design is not much different from the Vivo V5 design we have reviewed. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into a home button at the bottom of the screen in the phone and there is a sensor, notification LED and a fill light on the top. It is not hidden from anyone that Vivo and Oppo love to duplicate the hardware and software designs of Apple, and Vivo continues it in its latest variant. The antennae band in VivoV5 Plus looks like the brand new iPhone 7. The rear made of full metal is quite permanent and we liked the soft gold finish of the phone. Finnish premium realization of chassis and buttons and we do not have any complaints from the company here.

VIVO V5 Plus comes with a bright HD display.

VIVO V5 Plus comes with a bright HD display.

The phone has a SIM tray on the left, in which two nano-SIM cards can be used. However, this is not a hybrid SIM card and there is no separate slot for the MicroSD card. Below is a micro-USB port, headphone jack, and speaker. Vivo V5 Plus grip is good and it feels light with 158 grams of weight.
5.5 inch IPS display in Vivo V5 Plus is brighter and touch response is also good. Sharpness is also good due to the full HD resolution. The setting app does not have the option of color correction but you will get an I-Protection mode. Color saturation is good and for the protection of the display, the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has been given.

In the box, you will find an 18 watt / 10-watt adapter, data cable, headset, case, screen guard and sim ejector tool. Overall, Vivo V5 makes a superior score similar to the previous smartphones of the series in design and texture. However, enough inbuilt storage is available on the phone and the lack of expandable storage can frustrate some users.

SPECIFICATIONS

The VivoV5 Plus includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage. However, we can not make it attractive because Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 4 (review) with this specification at half price.

In addition, Vivo V5 Plus has Bluetooth 4.0, Dual-Band Wi-Fi B / G / N, GPS and USB-OTG. The phone has an AK 4376 Audio DAC for better sound quality. The phone does not have NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 AC or FM radio. The phone does not even have a new Type-C USB connector. Talk to the sensor, the rest of the sensor with the gyroscope in the phone. Vivo V5 Plus supports VoLTE with 4G on both SIM cards.
VivoV5 Plus runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 based Fantastic OS 3.0. Panels like stock icons and control center – which pop up from the bottom, all of these can be seen glimpses of iOS. There is Google’s pre-installed app in the phone, including Duo. Apart from this, WhatSap, UC Browser and WPS Office are included. Vivo has given some apps such as Themes, Vivo Cloud and a manager app for apparel, app locking and more.

If you are using this phone after stock Android then you will take some time to get used to the new software. We expected Vivo V5 Plus to come with the new Android Nougat because Marshmallow is now a bit old.

CAMERA

Camera

Vivo V5 Plus has a 20-megapixel sensor with aperture F / 2.0.

The phone’s front camera is the most talked about part of this phone and now we will talk about this. Vivo V5 Plus has a 20-megapixel sensor with aperture F / 2.0 and an additional 8-megapixel sensor for depth. The latter sensor is used separately from the background to generate the Bokeh effect in the camera app. According to the depth-of-field effect, you can adjust the aperture. The effect is quite good and even with less than 20-megapixel camera light, the selfie comes with good detection. Apart from this, you also get other modes like Auto HDR and Face Beauty, and Phil Light helps when you are dark.
The V5 rear camera was quite weak but the VivoV5 Plus has removed the problem. The macro and landscape shots come with a lot of detail from the 16-megapixel sensor. However, we had some problems with white balance but the app mostly fixes it. The performance was not very poor at low light and the detailing is a bit less and when the zoomed in, the object seems to be slightly scattered. But overall the performance from the last variant is definitely improved.

PERFORMANCE

The VivoV5 Plus smartphone with the Snapdragon 625 processor works well with Vieu’s heavy Android skin. Multitasking in the phone is easy and we have no trouble playing animated games. The fingerprint sensor recognizes the fingers fast and you can lock the app from this sensor in addition to unlocking the phone. Speaking of the benchmark, Vivo V5 Plus did a good job. The phone does not get hot while doing critical work such as 4 video recording and playing games. The upper part is slightly warm but it is not too much.

The processor comes with the ability to play video of 4k, and the other media files in the phone also run smoothly. There is a ‘smart split’ mode on the phone so that you can see the messages coming from Facebook, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger without having to exit the video player. This mode also works with MX Player, YouTube and Google Play Movies. The mono speaker given in the VivoV5 Plus is not bad for the media and it is quite fast but it is not as good as the stereo speakers. If you have connected the wired earphones, you can toggle on in the inverted DAC on or off using the Hi-Fi icon in the music and video player app. If you look at the headsets coming with VivoV5 Plus, the effect of the apple is visible on them, because they look exactly like the headset of the apple. However, audio quality is not that good.

BATTERY
A non-removable battery of 3055 MAH in the VVO V5 Plus is provided, which is easily carried out throughout the day when charging. In our HD Video Loop Test, we were able to run the phone easily for 10 hours and 53 minutes, which can not be called bad. Fast charging support has also been provided with Vivo’s ‘dual-charging engine’ technology, in which two microchips have been given for more current. With this, we could charge 43% of the device in half an hour.

OUR VERDICT
Chinese smartphone makers have set trends to offer products with strong specifications at a very cost-effective price. And maybe that’s what Vivo is doing now. V5 Plus is a great smartphone because it has dared to break tradition. However, we do not think this phone also provides performance according to its premium price, and especially when you get all these things from this at a very low price.

In addition, there are some drawbacks in the software too. At the price of which Vivo and similar broadband phones are being introduced, it can soon be introduced to its upgraded variants with Android Nougat. If you have software updates important for you, then OnePlus 3T will be a better option than spending a little more money. It may not be a fancy dual-camera setup like the VivoV5 Plus but this can be a good selfie, and in many cases, it performs better than V5 Plus.

The VivoV5 Plus smartphone V-series could have a strong phone if its price was around Rs 20,000. However, with a price of Rs 27, 980, this is a costly phone as this price includes phones such as OnePlus 3T and Honor 8 (Review). But if you are only fond of taking good selfies, then OPPO F1S (review) or VVO 5 (review) performs much better in lower prices.
