After surgical strikes Villages in 10 KM radius close to Indian border to be vacated-Schools closed

High alert - Evacuate 10Km radius area Indian Borders in Punjab

After the surgical strikes Indian army carried on POK, the crisis at LOC deepens. The Indian borders areas have been on high alert since the strikes and war like emergency measures are taken by the government.Indian government has given the order to evacuate the Indian borders areas of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir as a measure of safety. This is done in order to be ready to face any circumstances if the country is under attack.Government has decided to evacuate around 1000 villages of Indian Borders in Punjab and J&K which falls under 10 km of Line of Control. The officials will shift people living in “war prone” area to safer places.Schools in this area will also remain close until the further order is out. There is a high risk that if a war broke out between India and Pakistan then people in these areas are likely to suffer high casualities.

“We have asked Indian borders villagers living along IB and LoC to shift to safer area as a precautionery measure,” said Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh.Government has informed people of Samba, Jammu, Kathua Rajouri and Poonch. In some areas the evacuation process is already on the move.

The same order has been given to Punjab too.Punjab’s six districts Fazilka, Taran Tarn, Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur and Gurdaspur have a common border with Pakistan.Mr. Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab has put government into emergency mode and has asked his authorities to take quick action.

“I have personally called all MLAs in border districts and asked them to help in evacuation. While all schools in border areas have been closed, officers on leave have been recalled,” the CM said.Punjab government provided amount of Rs 1 crore to each DC so theat they could meet the demands of the operation.

Mr. Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister telephoned Badal and asked him to start the evacuation process as soon as possible. Badal held an emergency meeting and has entrusted DGP and Chief Secretary to coordinate with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to make sure of the process. In order to ensure public safety the officials did not allow the people to witness their border retreat ceremony the following day after surgical strikes. The reports state that  135 villages in Taran Taran, 65 in Pathankot and 16 in Fazilka were affected.

“We were informed about the tactical strike on Thursday morning after which we started the evacuation process,” Parkash Singh Badal said. “The Union home secretary has informed us of the possibility of retaliation. We have activated the state disaster management committee.”

The govt is doing everything to make sure that people do not face any inconvenience during the process.Around 15 lakh people are likely to be affected during this phase.Local administration are providing bus services to the people to move them to safe places and special camps are set. They will get everything they need there.Medical staff has been asked to remain updated in any case of emergency.Officials have ordered owners of marriage halls to keep them vacant so that people could be sheltered there. Gurudwaras are also ready to accommodate as many people as possible.Government employees have cancelled their leaves and reported back on duty.A large number of people were gathering at various petrol pumps to buy enough oil for themselves so that they can move away if required.People can either move to their relatives far away or they can stay at the govt camps.Police will be there in the empty villages to take care of people’s belongings.

The Border Security Forces are on high alert following the surgical attacks. It has asked it’s units to remain alert and increase their numbers on the border posts. Centre has cancelled the holidays of many army and medical officers. BSF is taking various precautionary measures to ensure public safety. It has strictly prohibited any civilian movement along Indian Borders areas. It is also providing manpower to local administration to aid the evacuation process. They are also undertaking special patrols and conducting ambushes. The force has increased its numbers significantly.Govt. has deployed around 1500 jawans and PAP jawans as second line of defense.

All this is done as precautionary measures. After the surgical strikes in Pakistan there is a chance that Pakistan army may retaliate. There is a lot of heat on the border following the incident. While the nation was in a happy mood, the government is leaving on stone unturned. Indian army had attacked seven terrorist camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Thursday night and killed 38 terrorists who were looking to infiltrate India and plan terror attacks in the country. This was after the Pak terrorists had claimed the lives of 19 Indian soilders in Uri.

Among the rising tensions between the two countries, it is the people living on the Indian Borders who are the first ones to suffer. For people it is not easy to suddenly leave their homes and live in camps. But they have no other option except to do it.Still it has not dampened their spirits and they are ready to offer their services to the nation. They are not threatened by the circumstances.People in Punjab were seen raising their voice in support of the nation and are willing to do anything to help the army.At the same time we cannot ignore the pain and hardships they have to go through. They might not say it but it hurts deep inside to live like a refugee inspite of having your own home, even if it is for some time.
